Farcical Force and the Missing u20 French defense
A warm welcome to the 2nd edition of the newsletter.
I entered into last weekend with supreme confidence and had a big early strike on the Western Force who turned out to be more Farce than Force. The only thing the Force managed to achieve was to force me into considering becoming a lowly paid male prostitute to lonely older ladies in my area to pay for that betting loss.
On we went to Friday night and was hoping the French u20 side would pull things back so that we could enter into Saturday relatively unscathed on the betting units. At 21-5 up and with Les Bleuets playing some incredible rugby, the -4.5 bet on France u20 looked in great form. Back came England u20 and that was all she wrote.
A last minute try by the Fijian Drua to kill the Chiefs minus bet capped off a bad end to the Saturday morning betting session.
It was unfortunately not the final kick in the teeth of my weekend. That came later on Saturday night when my girlfriend’s cellphone was snatched out of my hand as we were leaving a wedding and waiting for our Uber.
On we move to this weekend and there are 26+ games to look forward to across Top 14, Gallagher Premiership, United Rugby Championship and Super Rugby. Definitely a good time to have all the betting accounts topped up and ready for action.
Was hoping to jump on a really big Rebels plus against the Hurricanes in Wellington but the handicap has come out at 17.5 and it looks like the financial cracks might be starting to appear in Melbourne. Filipo Daugunu withdrew himself from the game against the Reds due to unpaid monies and wont be available for the Canes game either. Looking elsewhere I’m expecting a strong showing by the Brumbies v Pasifika in Canberra in perfect conditions and can the Crusaders, one of the most successful franchise rugby teams ever, go 0-5 when they play the Blues?
The Bulls should be travelling with a strong squad to play the Dragons in Newport as a good warm up for their next match against Leinster in Dublin at the RDS. Dragons also look poised to play all their Six Nations players for that game. Ulster and Edinburgh have similarly have taken strong squads to South Africa for their two match tour. Will be interesting to see what kind of performance the Sharks will produce against Ulster in Durban on Saturday. So far they’ve shown that rock bottom has a basement.
There are some incredibly tasty games in the Gallagher Premiership to look forward to and it probably doesn’t come tastier than Saracens taking on Harlequins at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a 15:00 UK kickoff. Sarries are currently -8.5 on the handicap. Could be some drizzle and rain about in London but doesn’t look too dramatic.
